Visit Japan Campaign was held by Ministry of Land,Infrastructure and Transport Japan
to increase foreign traveler on Apr. 2003.
Then on 2004, regular flight service between Tokyo - Seoul are started by JAL, ANA.
"Yokoso Japan" logo was painted on aircrafts for these flight.
"Yokoso" means "Welcome" in Japanese.

JAL First International Flight |
JAL started first international flight service between Tokyo - Honolulu - San Francisco at 2nd Feb. 1954.
Feb. 2004, JAL commemorate 50th year anniversary of it.
And real size DC-6B(JA6201:City of Tokyo) used with the First International Flight, was painted on B747-400(JA8906).
This B747 flew to Honolulu 2nd Feb. 2004, then excursion flight was held for old Hawaii residents.

This is the only practicable supersonic passenger plane in the world.
All seats are assigned for first class passenger and make a flight with Mach 2.2.
Because of bad fuel expenses and noise damage, did not produced so many.
There are only four prototypes and 16 mass production models in the world.
In accident of CDG 25.Jul.2000, one was lost for the first time and service was suspended.
7. Nov. 2001, the service was resumed but complete service suspend at Oct.2003 is decided.

Cathay pacific "Spirits of Hong Kong"

Cathay pacific operated three special color plane for celebrate the birth of HKSAR by now.
First is the "The Spirit of Hong Kong 97"(upper photo) for celebrate the birth of HKSAR Jul.1st.1997. Second is the "The Spirit of Hong Kong - Millennium"(middle photo) the 3rd Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR and Year2000. This was called as "Same Team, Same Dream" from CX's catchword on it's body. Or called "Millennium Kids" from the painting. And the third, in 4.July.2002, Cathay Pacific Airways celebrated the 5th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR by unveiling the "Asia's world city" aircraft. A livery design aimed to promote Hong Kong as Asia's world city to the world. The dragon on its fuselage, which symbolises the spirit of Hong Kong and its people, is seen soaring over the green waves, which depicts the lands and oceans of the world. This aircraft was paintedat Taikoo Aircraft Engineering Company (TAECO) in Xiamen, China. The repainting process took 26 days and involved more than 30 people working around the clock. Boeing 777-300ER is the fourth 777 model and the newest member of the 777 airplane family.
On Feb. 24, 2003, it completed its maiden flight.
And it completed Extended Operations Flight Testing(ETOPS) on Dec. 22, 2003 including nearly 1,500 flight, 1,000 ground-test hours and World Tour.
Then it received U.S. and European Certification Approval on March 16, 2004.
Air France will receive the first 777-300ER Apr. 2004.

Air Pacific received its second Boeing 747-400 aircraft "The Island of Viti Levu" on Thursday 26th June 2003.
The aircraft is leased from Singapore Airlines for a five year period
The aircraft has been adorned with huge photographic decals of two of Fiji's holiday resorts, Beachcomber(right side) and Castaway Islands(left side).
The photography was undertaken by Peter Hennings and the preparation of the decals by Admark of New Zealand.
Cost of the project was around FJD200,000 and the design will remain with the aircraft for at least two years.

On two B737-400s (JA391K,JA392K) Air Nippon operates, there are Dolphin illustrations.
And called "Island Dolphin".
1st aircraft started in service for Tokyo - Hachijo-jima island line at 1st July 2000.
2nd aircraft started in service at 9th Oct. 2001 based on Fukuoka airport.
There are some differents with these two painting like Logo on rudder.

Qantas "Formula One" |
In year 2000, Qantas Airways, the title sponsor of the Australian Grand Prix,
put an image of a giant Formula One car on both sides of
one of their B747-400 VH-OJC "City of Melbourne" to promote the race.
This image is 22 meters long, 5.6 meters high.
This aircraft fly between Australia and Europe to attention on the season-opening Australian Grand Prix on March 12 in Melbourne.
It took 30 people, working around the 16 days, to complete the project that was done in the U.S.
for technical reasons and to meet the launch deadline.
The work was done by Aviation Exterior Inc's facility in Portland, Ore.
More than 210 gallons (800 liters) of paint was used in the process.
Finally, the image of the car was applied in sections consisting of 52 separate decals weighing 119 pounds (54 kgs).

31.Mar.2001 Universal Studio Japan had opend at Osaka Japan.
ANA, the official airline of USJ, painted WoodyWoodPecker on one of their B767-300, JA8357.
They call it as "ANA Woody Jet" and set to Japanese domestic airline service.
This aircraft started their service on 21.Feb.2001 against JAL Dream Express.

ANA LOCKHEED L1011 "TriStar"  |
This is first wide body in Japan, Lockheed L1011.
From their three engines, this plane was called as "TriStar".
This plane started in service between Tokyo and Okinawa in March 1974.
Then this TriStar flew almost all ANA route.
But in 1976, the Japanese ex-Prime Minister Kakuei Tanaka and Lockheed were sued for bribery case.
Since then, it's sales becomes dull in spite of it's great performance.
And at last, Lockheed withdraw from passenger plane business.

In September 1995, Japanese travel bureau 'Kinki Nippon Tourist' planed package tour using international charter flight.
Japan Air System arranged this DC-10-30(JA8551) "Peterpan flight" for this project.
And a part of this proceeds are provided to "Peterpan child fund" for assist disabled child in the world.
The late princess Diana acted honorary president of the fund.
This special Peterpan sticker was stayed on several years after return to JAS regular service.
By the way, the name of an old enemy of Peterpan is "Jas".Hook :-)

Dec.6, 2000, Two pandas, "Tian Tian"(a three-year-old male) and "Mei Xiang"(two-year-old female) fly from China to the Smithsonian Institution's National Zoological Park in Washington, D.C.
It is the custom-painted FedEx MD-11 jet, to be renamed "FedEx PandaOne", that brings them to U.S.
Departing Chengdu on December 6, 2000, at 11 a.m. (China time), make a stop at the FedEx facility in Anchorage, Alaska.
FedEx PandaOne touched down at Dulles Airport on Wednesday, December 6, at 3 p.m. after 17 hours flight.
They enjoyed travel in custom-built transport containers filled with fresh bamboos.
In Apr.7, 2003, more two pandas, "Le Le" and "Ya Ya" traveled from Beijing Zoo to Memphis Zoo by new FedEx "Panda Express". From Apr.2003, JAL group and JAS group are combined to one new JAL company.
This is a new color for new JAL group.
Upper photo is B747-400 for passenger, middle is JAL CARGO B747-200F for freight, And bottom is similarly JAL CARGO B747-200F special Polished Skin color version. The interior of freighter is empty, but rails for move loads and metal fittings for fixate are arrangeed on the floor. And some seats are established at upper deck for board the freight owner. Cargos are loaded from large door provided at left-rear of the body. Several freighters has a leap up type nose door. JAL Polished Skin(PS) color is done for maintenance test with no paint body. Only one PS color plane (JA8180) exists at JAL. This plane was changed to PS color at 23, Aug. 1992. And this new special PS color was provided from 14.Feb.2003. In 2000,Gulf Air reached it's 50th anniversary.
For celebrating this, they painted special color scheme on their aircrafts.

And 2nd one entered on 26 Nov. 1998 with Microsoft ad.
After that, Direc-TV Japan was integrated in SKY perfecTV,
So No1's ad was changed to Yahoo! JAPAN on Apr. 2000. And No2's was changed to J-PHONE:cellular phone company.
On Mar. 2002, Skymark acquired 3rd aircraft. But advertisement was not painted on that for use of international charter flight. In August 1998, Hokkaido prefecture started
'Image-up campaign for Hokkaido'
to get attract nation's interest and escalate demand for sightseeing.
In this campaign, a catch phrase 'TAMESARERU DAICHI' and 'Hokkaido' logo were selected.
This 'Hokkaido' logo is painted in a brush with color of red, green, blue whitch is expressed from a sense of the season of Hokkaido.
These logo and catch phrase was painted on 1st aircraft of AIR DO : Hokkaido prefecture's Airline, started in December 1998.
And on the 2nd aircraft of AIR DO, the photographs of the rich nature of Hokkaido was drawn as a full-scale advertisement. These photographs are came from publicity poster of 'Image-up campaign for Hokkaido'. From the nose, in order, 'Spring...The soybean, wheat field of the fresh verdure in Abashiri Memanbetsu.', 'Winter...The snowfield of Biei and Furano in bright sunlight, made to feel the visit of spring.', 'Autumn...The range of Biei's hill, shining in orange, sunlight is equal to the morning haze.', 'Summer...Mystic Kushiro Marsh right after the daybreak of the midsummer', 'The ground in early spring, snow is still left, and comet HALE BOPP goes through the sky of the morning haze.' .This advertisement was done from August, 2001. These gaudy quantas birds were painted in an Aboriginal theme by "Bararinge design studio" in Adelaide, South Australia.
Red "Wunala Dreaming" was painted in 1994. It was imaged for the bright reds of Uluru (Ayers Rock) at sunset to the blue-lavenders.
"Wunala" means "kangaroo" in Aboriginal phrase.
Blue "Nalanji Dreaming" was painted in Nov. 1995 for the Qantas 75th anniversary commemoration. Which body describes rainforest and reef. Its theme is Manhanthara Nalanji - the way in which the environment is preserved for new generations. "Nalanji" means "Our Place, Australia". On Nov. 18, 1999, the aircraft was inaugurated by Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and Continental CEO Gordon Bethune.
This painting was done freehand using air guns, and it took a total of 8 days to complete the design.
Just behind the cockpit, there is a NYC2000 logo in Star-Spangled banner letters.
And the Statue of Liberty is shown on tail.

to commemorate the customer number reached 500 million.
The girl's design was chosen from 20000 posts in total.

This body design became worldwide famous, and it became the lead of the Special livery boom.
And Descember 1993, in addition to this B747(JA8963), other B767(JA8579) became "Marine Jumbo Jr.".
These two Marines were flew in Japanese domestic line for about one year.

B747-127 is Boeing's 100th B747, delivered as BRANIFF INTERNATIONAL's 1st plane at January, 1971.
This was called 'Big Orange' and flew Atlantic line in 1978.
And, as for front short body B747-SP, it is Boeing's 405th B747 in October, 1979. and became BRANIFF's N603BN.

B707 (the front) used from 1972 took over the duties to B747 (back) in 1987.

This is the prototype of the B747 jumbo-jet completed on September 30, 1968.
And called "City of Everett".
There is no seat in the plane, but lounge is being made in upper-deck.
After mass production began, it was active for the demo flight and the test of new-model engine.
From March, 1990, it is kept in "Museum of Flight" of Seattle.

This Colombia (OV-102) flew to the space for the first time.
The shuttle launched from Keneddy Space Center(KSC) comes back to a runway inside KSC or Edwards Air Force Base, Calif.
Shuttle landed on Edwards is transported with the special aircraft of NASA in KSC.
